About Us
Pleasant Hill Youth Football was started by a group of Fathers in the late sixties headed by George Buddy, who wanted to develop their own program in Pleasant Hill.
They wanted their children to excel in football locally and then continue onto high school showing their Hometown Pride.
At first we had three different names; Razorbacks, Rebels and one Renegades. The colors Red, White and Silver were selected following the old “Pleasant Hill High School”.
In 1986 Mike Warren was elected President.
Mike Warren set about reorganizing PHYF to make sure the name and organization could be reestablished and pride set back in.
In 1986, the name “REBELS” was set as the sole name to draw pride and espirit de corps into ONE ORGANIZATION, and evaluate and select the coaches.
In 2005, The Pleasant Hill Rebels expanded our area to Lafayette, Orinda and Moraga as there was no youth contact football or cheer program set in place. Our family tripled in size! We officially changed our name to The Pleasant Hill Lamorinda Rebels this year.
Our Board includes family members of Pleasant Hill and individuals, who have an eye to provide an organization for our local families to learn, participate, grow and have fun with a sports we all love, football and cheer.
The PHLYF Rebels is part of the Diablo Valley Youth Football League and we strive to provide a positive
environment for our youth to participate both in football and cheer.
We stress academics, dedication and team work to ensure all participantes learn values life lessons and to
continue to develop into positive role models in our Community.
